LastPass

LastPass is our password manager. You should save your own login info for Google, Harvest, Asana, and other resources in your LastPass account, and set your master password to something you won’t forget (for data security purposes, please don’t use the old “Post-It on the monitor” trick!). In addition, some resources (e.g. LucidChart) have an “analyst” or other account that we share—login info for these accounts can be shared with you via LastPass.

Guru

Guru serves as an information hub for many of our policies, processes, software tutorials and other how-tos. Click the links below for more information on using Guru and some examples of what a Guru "card" (the basic unit of info) looks like.

Harvest

Harvest is where we track our time, including billable and non-billable hours. Click the links below for more information on how to do this.

Slack

Slack generally replaces emails between Workman Forensics team members. We use it to keep each other updated on projects, ask questions, and more. Use the link below to watch a training video with more information on how we use Slack.

IDEA

IDEA is a little like "Excel on steroids." While we use Excel regularly to organize information and create workpapers, most of our actual data analysis takes place in IDEA. IDEA can handle larger amounts of data; it's also designed to better preserve data integrity and record a history of data manipulations and analyses that have been performed. In addition to its many built-in analysis functions, we write macros in IDEAScript (similar to VBScript macros that are used in Excel) to automate some of our standard data cleanup and analysis tasks. We have many resources to help you work in IDEA, including training videos and Guru cards.

Asana

We use Asana for project and task management. Tasks can be assigned to other team members, linked to different projects, and more. Your Asana "My Tasks" page functions as your personal to-do list.

MoneyThumb

MoneyThumb is used by our Data Processing Specialist to convert bank and credit card statements into CSV files for analysis.

Airtable

Airtable is a web app that lets us create simple databases by creating multiple tables and linking them together as easily as we would create an Excel or Google spreadsheet. Currently, our primary uses for Airtable are organizing research findings for cases and organizing case documents in our Document Inventory and Account Schedule.

Lucidchart

We use Lucidchart to generate flowcharts and other visualizations to better communicate with clients and each other, both for case information (connected bank accounts, entities, etc.) and our own business and analysis processes. Use the link below to learn more.

Google Mail

We use Google Mail as our email client. If you have experience with Gmail for personal use, it should look familiar.

Google Drive

Google Drive is where we store all of our work and projects. Use the link below to learn more about how we use Google Drive.
